Enfield CC 2017 Sportsmans dinner details

We’ve had some excellent fund raising support in recent months at both the fun day and our annual golf day. Next in our fund raising diary is the Sportsmans dinner.
This event didn’t take place in 2016 so we know and expect this will get tremendous support from our members, players, supporters and neighbours.
This years event takes place on the evening of Friday October 13th. Our guest speaker will be Paul Allott of England and Lancs fame, who now plies his trade as a pundit on Sky Sports’ Cricket channel. He will be supported by the very highly rated comedian, Paul Boardman. Tickets are priced at £35 and include a full dinner as normal.
This event is being organised by Mark Hollister and Paul Seddon and tickets can be purchased by contacting either of the Likely Lads or by the club direct.
Our Sportsmans dinner is a vital part of our fund raising for 2017, we hope everyone will give it there full support.

Hello and welcome to the 2nd edition of the Enfield Dragons newsletter. It’s been about 3 months since our last one and it’s been an action packed 3 months! We’ve made some great strides towards where we want/ need to be.

Indoor nets have started and we’ve seen steady numbers attending regularly. The feedback I’ve had from some of the gang has been positive so far. I had a quick word with a few you and stressed the need to recruit more members. While I’m conscious that we need to provide quality coaching, facilities and equipment to our junior members, we need to up our numbers. Bigger numbers equals better training nights, more teams, more new friends and more fun! We’re about to move our training outdoors in the coming weeks and I’m sure we’ll see a positive upturn.

I have the pleasure of inviting you all to a preseason meeting to be held at the club on Friday 7th April at 18.45. Free tea and coffee will be on offer and the bar will be open as usual. Everyone with an interest in the juniors are welcome – parents, kids, club members etc. It’s very important that you attend this meeting if possible. I’ll be updating you all on our plans for the season, introducing you to the coaching team, running through some of the changes we’re making and revealing some exciting news!

I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate 2 members of our team who have recently completed their initial steps towards becoming fully qualified coaches. Lewis Garratty and Kieran Shackleton have both passed their ‘Coach Support Worker’ qualification. The 1 day course is developed by the ECB and delivered by the Lancashire Cricket Board. THIS IS THE FIRST OF MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS TO DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS. Keep your eyes peeled for more opportunities

At our recent AGM, 2017s officials were voted in and can be found here on the club website under club officials in the tab “The Club”.

Busy social life at DHL!

Plenty of social events coming up at DHL as usual, so here’s some dates for your diary-

Enfield CC presentation night Friday 21st October, all welcome, LL legend doing the presenting.

Enfield CC Halloween party Saturday 29th October, tickets £5 for adults and £2 for kids, available from behind the bar or by calling 07532765364

Enfield CC annual bonfire night Friday 4th November with a 6pm start, admission £2 adults £1 for the kids. We’re collecting wood for this right now so all help is welcome.

and of course….

Enfield CC Presidents dinner on Saturday 12th of November, tickets priced at £30 are going fast, with top class entertainment and a 3 course meal this should be another great night.

if that’s not enough if it’s the end of season ride off on Saturday Oct 1st with Manchester the destination, lock up your ermm, well never mind!

Indoor Nets

Enfield’s indoor nets will begin on the 21st of February at St.Christophers High School. The seniors will train 1pm-2.30pm. The juniors will follow at 2.30-3.30pm

New League Structure. Proposals One and Two.

The committee have asked for all of Enfield CC players to vote for proposal one or two. The players must give their views via facebook/twitter/phone or in person to a committee member. This must be done ASAP as there is a meeting on the 13th of January. It’s your future of cricket…get voting!

Proposal One

2017 season. Lancashire League clubs and Northern League clubs form one division and play each other once. Ribblesdale League and the Palace Shield to remain the same in 2017. Final placings between the Lancashire League / Northern League division will confirm Division 1 and Division 2 places for the 2018 season. Division 3 and 4 made up of Ribblesdale League clubs and Palace Shield clubs. Consideration to put back the above proposal by a year, giving clubs more time to plan and prepare, was suggested by League Execs during the meeting and agreed as something to consider. A more locally based competition for second teams was agreed as the preferred option at this stage with further consultation needed.

Proposal Two

Final placings across all 4 Leagues at the end of the 2017 season, determines places for Division 1 2 3 4 and below in 2018.  Division 1 in 2018 will be made up of the top places from the Lancashire League clubs and Northern League clubs and Division 2, the lower places from the Lancashire League and Northern Leagues clubs. Division 3 is the top of the Ribblesdale League and bottom places from the Lancashire League and Northern League. Division 4 is Ribblesdale League. Division 5 is the remainder of the Ribblesdale League incorporating the top Palace Shield clubs. Division 6 is the remainder of the top division Palace Shield Clubs. In this proposal Division 1 clubs will play Division 2 clubs once to maintain local derbies with the same principles applying in Division 3 / 4 and 5 / 6. Consideration to put back the above proposal by a year giving clubs more time to plan and prepare, was suggested by League Execs during the meeting and agreed as something to consider. A more locally based competition for second teams was agreed as the preferred option at this stage with further consultation needed.
