We are delighted to announce that Enfield CC have again been granted ECB ClubMark re-accreditation. ClubMark has is a governing body award given to clubs who adhere to strict criteria of governance, we are assessed every year and have a full review every 3 years. It basically means we are doing things right, we aren’t perfect but we are getting there!
If you would like to read about some of the commitments we’ve made, a ClubMark notice board in the club, highlights the separate sections for which ECC has been given approval.
It’s no small feat and plenty of work has gone in to achieving this milestone. A massive thanks must be given to Yvonne Winnard who (assisted by Anthony Shackleton) managed the entire re-accreditation process and spent no little time and effort getting ECB approval. Well done to all.
On Thursday November 16th from 7:45 Enfield are hosting the Lancashire League Heritage Experience celebrating 125 years of the Lancashire League. We would love as many of our members, players and supporters, old and new, to come and enjoy the evening and share some memories. We are hoping local historians will come along to share any Lancashire League cricket stories with people keen to hear them. For our supporters and officials there will be an opportunity to see some rare footage of our Worsley Cup win at Rawtenstall in 1978.
The day after, on Friday 17th November our President John Hargreaves hosts his annual dinner dance at the club where the Platinum 100 club’s first mega-prize of £2000 will be drawn. There are a few tickets left for the mixed dinner which features guest speaker Dr Kevin Jones and well-known Merseyside comedian Sean Styles. If you fancy snapping up one or more of the last remaining tickets for this prestigious event please contact me as soon as you can.
Wishing you all the best of luck and once again thanks for your support.
We’ve now got confirmation of the rest of our fixtures for season 2017, 5pts clear at the top of Div2 means we’ve plenty to play for if we are going to be the first winners of the Div2 Trophy. As most will be aware a simple reverse of H & A games would not be possible but apart from one fixture (Church) that’s what we seem to have got. We finish with a cracking derby against Accrington at DHL.
Our 2s face very similar fixtures with 3 away and 4 home games again with plenty of derbies.
It’s probably no coincidence that both the 1s and 2s face the same opponents (with the exception of Colne/Nelson 2s). We are, after all, one Pro, one wage clubs and we can’t see that changing. We are of course in an area were the number of clubs to ratio of people playing the game is probably at its skinniest!
The 3s have a couple of re-arranged games and big thanks must go to both Jack Bottomley and Clitheroe CC for agreeing to move our scheduled 3X1 game on 28th August to 2nd Sept. Allowing us all to enjoy Its A Knockout day at DHL, and for Clitheroe’s juniors to support the senior team on T20 finals day at Darwen.
This seasons fixtures have not been ideal and it would be wrong to pretend they have. But for the Church fixture we do seem to have managed home and away derbies which is some consolation. Given the fact that all our neighbours are in the same division will definitely stimulate more interest in Hyndburn cricket as the season draws to a close. I also want to thank Jack again for taking on the thankless task of sorting these games. Nobody was ever going to be totally happy but thanks to Jack we were able to at least to confirm our 2nd phase home fixtures long before this weekends split. This keeps our sponsors happy for one, and sponsors help pay the bills!
Next season should more straight forward and we hope for as near as possible home/away/home/away and so on fixtures, and for maybe a better rub of the green when it comes to the dates of derbies. We will play four derbies and should expect two of those to be at home, well at least let’s hope so. Of course gates aren’t what they used to be but from a sponsorship point of view these are well supported games and I will be promoting our opinion on these from the outset. Anyway, here we go…..
